About the Role
The Company is seeking a Chief Information Officer (CIO) to lead its technology-enabled transformation at a strategic inflection point. The successful candidate will be responsible for translating the institution's bold strategic vision into a clear, outcome-driven enterprise IT and digital roadmap. This role demands an experienced CIO with a strong business acumen, ready to lead at scale, and shape the enterprise direction. The CIO will serve as a trusted advisor to the President and Executive Cabinet, engaging with the Governing Board on technology strategy, digital risk, and institutional readiness. Key responsibilities include establishing enterprise technology standards, leading major technology investments, overseeing cybersecurity, and directing vendor and shared services strategies. The ideal CIO will be a collaborative, strategic partner, balancing innovative transformation with operational stability, and will be committed to the institution's mission of access, completion, and economic mobility. Applicants for the CIO position at the company should have a minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field, with a preference for a Master’s degree, and at least 7 years of senior executive leadership experience in enterprise IT, digital transformation, or technology-enabled operations. The role requires a proven track record in leading large-scale modernization or transformation initiatives, as well as experience in overseeing cybersecurity, enterprise platforms, budgets, and vendor ecosystems. The CIO will be expected to champion data as a strategic asset, ensure its ethical and secure access, and align technology investments with institutional priorities. Financial, talent, and resource stewardship are also key aspects of the role, including leading IT financial planning, budgeting, and investment governance, and building a high-performing IT organization. Experience in complex mission-driven organizations, higher education, or the public sector is highly valued.
