Lutheran Social Services of WI & Upper MI is seeking a compassionate and energetic Summer Youth Counselor to support children and teens in our Community & Social Services programs. In this seasonal role, you will help create a safe, fun, and enriching summer experience for youth, many of whom may be facing social, emotional, or family-related challenges. Working closely with program leaders and other counselors, you will supervise daily activities, lead group games and educational projects, assist with field trips, and model positive behavior and healthy communication. You will build trusting relationships with youth, provide informal mentoring, and help reinforce social skills, conflict resolution, and respect for others. The counselor will monitor participant safety and well-being, follow agency policies and behavior management guidelines, document basic participation notes, and promptly report any concerns to supervisors. You will maintain a welcoming, inclusive environment that reflects LSS’s commitment to compassion, respect, and community care, interacting professionally with parents, caregivers, and community partners. This position is ideal for students or early-career professionals interested in social work, education, psychology, youth development, or related fields who want to make a meaningful difference while gaining hands-on experience in nonprofit and social services.
