Job Description

Solar Installation Technician Job Title: Solar Installer Department: Field Operations Sub-Department: Installation Location: Phoenix, Arizona (onsite) Role Overview As a Solar Installation Technician, you will assemble, install, and maintain solar photovoltaic (PV) systems on roofs or other structures in compliance with site assessment and schematics. You will be part of a crew responsible for installing solar systems on residential homes. Job Responsibilities Work with a team to install the racking system and solar panels on residential roofs Structurally mount racking and electrical equipment and effectively seal penetrations Perform routine PV system maintenance on modules, arrays, batteries, power conditioning equipment, safety systems, structural or weather sealing, or balance of systems equipment Ensure proper job documentation is completed once the job installation concludes Interact with customers, answer and direct questions as needed Read and review blueprints and plan documents Install racking systems and modules, run conduit and wiring on roofs Apply weather seal, such as pipe flashings and sealants, to roof penetrations and structural devices Configure electrical wiring of the solar system (AC and DC) per plans and local codes Test operation or functionality of completed work Demonstrate knowledge of OSHA standards related to photovoltaic installations and enforce safety practices and standards Assist with other duties as assigned by Crew Lead and/or Regional Operations Manager Required Qualifications Must be at least 18 years of age. High school diploma or equivalent. Technical/trade school training in solar or electrical systems is preferred. 1 year of residential solar experience. Ability to safely handle power tools and materials such as ladders, inverters, solar panels, panel boards, batteries, and other similar electrical equipment, lumber, roofing materials, etc. Excellent analytical and problem‑solving skills. Ability to perform all installation duties of the Installer and Lead Installer. Working knowledge of current NEC codes. Ability to interpret single‑line drawings and PV systems from roof to meter. Demonstrated knowledge of electrical principles as it pertains to solar interconnection/tie‑in and code, and how PV systems operate. Understands interconnection activities and basic construction principles. Adheres to company safety policies and procedures, including ability to identify and report safety hazards and to encourage safe work practices. Experience with electrical panels, sub panels, MBD derate, conduit bending, relocating circuits, etc. Knowledge of layout and assembly of solar modules/arrays and mounting hardware. Must be able to successfully pass pre‑employment screening requirements (valid driver’s license and clean MVR). Certified OSHA/OSHA10/30 preferred; OSHA preferred. Physical Requirements Work within the safe range of equipment such as ladders and fall protection harnesses. Work at heights, on roofs, and climb ladders daily. Lift 50‑75+ lbs. routinely daily. Work in 0‑100+ degree weather, wet and dry conditions. Move around for prolonged periods, standing, kneeling, bending, squatting, and climbing ladders daily.
