Job Description

Salon Manager — The Shade

Overview The Shade is hiring a Salon Manager to lead the day-to-day operations of our studio and the team behind it. This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who knows the nail industry inside and out — you've worked in salons, you understand what makes a great client experience, and you take real pride in a spotless, well-run space. You'll own scheduling, team performance, inventory, sanitation standards, and the overall vibe of the studio. If you're the kind of leader who can run a tight ship without losing the warmth and energy that keeps people wanting to come back — both clients and staff — this is your role.

What You'll Do

  • Lead the studio team day-to-day: build the schedule, coach nail technicians and front desk staff, run team meetings, and set the standard for guest experience
  • Hire, onboard, and train new team members on The Shade's service standards, brand voice, and sanitation protocols
  • Own studio operations: open and close procedures, inventory and ordering, supply levels, vendor relationships, and equipment maintenance
  • Uphold sanitation and state board compliance at the highest level — autoclave/UV sterilization, single-use implements, station cleanliness, documentation, and audit readiness
  • Manage the booking system: optimize the schedule, minimize gaps, handle escalations, and keep the studio running on time
  • Oversee POS and daily reconciliation — ensure transactions, tips, and retail are accurate and reported correctly
  • Resolve guest concerns with professionalism — turn tricky moments into loyalty
  • Hit revenue, retail, and membership goals; track KPIs and report up to ownership
  • Partner with corporate/HQ on launches, promotions, and brand initiatives — keep the team aligned and informed
  • Maintain the look and feel of the studio: presentation-ready retail displays, immaculate service stations, on-brand front of house

What You Bring

  • Nail salon experience required — you've worked in or managed a nail salon and understand the rhythm of the business, services, products, and clientele
  • 2+ years of management or lead experience in a salon, spa, or similar service-based environment
  • Working knowledge of state board sanitation and licensing requirements
  • Strong people-leadership skills — you can hold a high standard while building a team people actually want to be on
  • Sharp operational instincts — scheduling, inventory, vendor management, and the small stuff that keeps a studio humming
  • Comfort with booking software, POS systems, Microsoft Office, and Google Workspace
  • A genuine eye for cleanliness, presentation, and brand consistency
  • Calm under pressure, organized in chaos, and energized by a busy book
  • Bilingual is a major plus

Why The Shade We're building an elevated nail experience rooted in clean design, strict sanitation, and a team that takes pride in the work. As Salon Manager, you'll have real ownership over how the studio runs and the culture inside it — with the support of a corporate team that's invested in your success. If you've been waiting for the right brand to put your nail-industry experience behind, we'd love to meet you.
