Pipe Welder

Duties

• Execute pipe welding tasks using MIG, TIG, FCAW (Flux-Cored Arc Welding), and welding techniques on diverse piping systems.
• Read and interpret detailed blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings to ensure accurate fabrication and assembly.
• Prepare pipes and components by measuring with calipers and micrometers, cutting with plasma cutters or press brake machines, and threading pipes as required.
• Use hand tools, power tools, and rigging equipment to assemble, position, and secure piping assemblies safely.
• Perform welding on sheet metal, ductwork, and mechanical piping following ASME codes & standards.
• Conduct quality inspections using calipers, micrometers, and other measurement tools to verify weld integrity and dimensions.
• Maintain a clean work environment by properly handling materials such as sheet metal and ensuring compliance with safety protocols.
• Operate forklifts and other machinery for material handling within the construction site or manufacturing facility.
• Support fabrication processes including machining, soldering, plasma cutting, and assembly of piping components.
• Collaborate with team members to meet project deadlines while adhering to safety regulations and technical specifications.

Qualifications

• Proven construction site experience with a strong background in pipe welding operations.
• Proficiency in MIG, TIG, FCAW welding processes; experience with welding preferred.
• Ability to read complex blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings accurately.
• Familiarity with the use of calipers, micrometers, hand tools, power tools, and rigging equipment.
• Knowledge of ASME codes & standards related to pipe fabrication and welding practices.
• Mechanical aptitude with understanding of pipe threading, machining, soldering, plasma cutting, and press brake operations.
• Basic math skills for measurements and calculations essential for precise fabrication.
• Experience working with ductwork or manufacturing environments is advantageous.
• Ability to operate forklifts safely; certification preferred but not mandatory.
• Strong safety awareness coupled with the ability to follow detailed instructions meticulously.
