General Job Description Directly reporting to the Director, Human Resources or Senior Human Resources Manager, this position is responsible for providing HR support services to HR Managers including but not limited to talent acquisition, on-boarding, compensation/benefits, employee relations, talent/performance management, learning and development and regulatory compliance initiatives and efforts for the organization (for assigned offices). To be successful in this role, the incumbent must act with professionalism, integrity, discretion, urgency and be responsive to client needs. This role provides support to assigned HR Managers across locations. Essential Duties And Responsibilities Supports HR Manager with low- to mid-level employee relations issues and investigations, including attending meetings to take notes, summarizing findings and follow-up action items. Handles employment-related inquiries from applicants, employees, and supervisors, referring complex and/or sensitive matters to the appropriate staff. Provides training to new managers on tactical HR-related processes and procedures. Assists with the creation and updates of employee-related job change letters and job descriptions. Reviews and provides suggested guidance on background checks requiring HR review. Conducts and analyzes exit interviews and makes actionable recommendations based on data, feedback, and areas of concern in collaboration with HR Managers. Supports compliance efforts including mandatory and non-mandatory training, continuing education, and work assessments. This may include safety training, anti-harassment training, professional licensure, aptitude exams and certifications, etc. Assists in the communication, interpretation, and may contribute to the development of policies and practices. Performs routine tasks required to support human resource programs including but not limited to compensation, benefits, and leave; disciplinary matters; disputes and investigations; performance and talent management; productivity, recognition, and morale; occupational health and safety; and training and development. Develops and maintains organized employee files and HR records. Maintains knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law. Performs other duties as assigned. Position Requirements Bachelor’s degree in human resources, Business Administration, or related field required. 3-4 years working in an HR coordination role supporting non-union and union workforce. Strong attention to detail and organizational skills. Understanding of state and federal employment laws (FMLA, CFRA, ADA, FSLA) and collective bargaining agreements. Proven ability to work with tight deadlines and navigate through change. Willingness to learn and provide guidance to others in an HR support function. Ability and eagerness to thrive in a dynamic, entrepreneurial setting. Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, collaboration and conflict resolution skills. Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail. Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality. Depth of knowledge of employment-related laws and regulations. Proficiency with or the ability to quickly learn the organizations HRIS and talent management systems. Must possess excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to produce highly professional correspondence pieces, proposals and presentations, and the ability to listen effectively. Intermediate in Microsoft Office including MS Word and MS Excel Word. Able to utilize Google business suite applications. Ability to learn and utilize online applications; Zoom, BOX, Google IM, Smartsheets, Online customer portals, etc. Demonstrated ability to remain calm under pressure, efficiently balance and prioritize tasks. Proven ability to multitask, prioritize and remain organized in a fast-paced environment with limited direction. Broad knowledge of HR principles, practices, and procedures, and a demonstrated ability to apply that knowledge. Ability to handle fast-paced environments with the appropriate urgency in action. Excellent customer service skills, phone, and email etiquette skills. Able to make decisions based on information provided. SHRM-CP and union experience preferred. Physical Requirements The employee may regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 30 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include Close vision and Distance vision. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms and talk or hear. The employee is regularly required to walk and sit; climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl (for purposes of assisting with project job walks and site inspections). The employee is occasionally required to reach above shoulder height to access storage cabinets and shelves. Hours Typical hours are Monday to Friday, 7:00 am to 4:00 pm or 8:00 am to 5:00 pm. Travel 10-20% of the time to and from the primary office to other office and field locations. Competitive Wages $26.00 to $34.00 per hour.
