Responsibilities Kforce has a client that is seeking an Accounting Assistant in Alexandria, VA.Summary:The Accounting Assistant provides clerical and transactional support across both operational and reporting functions within the Finance Department. This role supports accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general accounting operations while assisting with the administrative aspects of financial reporting. The Accounting Assistant ensures accurate recordkeeping, smooth coordination across functions, and compliance with internal policies and applicable regulations.Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provide clerical and administrative support to senior accounting and finance team members including assistance with financial reports, operational reconciliations, and resolution of routine accounting issues
- Process accounts payable and accounts receivable transactions while maintaining accurate vendor and customer records
- Scan, upload, organize, and file invoices and related documentation
- Maintain and update vendor information within accounting systems
- Prepare routine journal entries for daily and periodic postings
- Reconcile assigned general ledger accounts and investigate discrepancies
- Research and reconcile outstanding or stale dated items and assist with required reporting
- Assist with tax related payments and filings as assigned
- Serve as backup support for accounting and reporting functions during peak periods or absences
- Participate in ongoing training and professional development
- Perform other clerical and administrative duties as assigned
Skills - High School diploma or equivalent required with some college coursework preferred
- Certification coursework in accounting or finance a plus
- Minimum of two years of accounting or finance related experience within a corporate or professional services environment
The pay range is the lowest to highest compensation we reasonably in good faith believe we would pay at posting for this role. We may ultimately pay more or less than this range. Employee pay is based on factors like relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, location, performance, union contract and business needs. This range may be modified in the future.
We offer comprehensive benefits including medical/dental/vision insurance, HSA, FSA, 401(k), and life, disability & ADD insurance to eligible employees. Salaried personnel receive paid time off. Hourly employees are not eligible for paid time off unless required by law. Hourly employees on a Service Contract Act project are eligible for paid sick leave.
